Privacy & Consent

Plain-English summary: We collect the minimum we need to send well-timed text reminders. We only text people who have agreed to receive texts. We never sell your data. You can opt out of texts any time by replying STOP.

1. Who we are

Rico Remembers ("Rico," "we," "us") is a reminder service operated by Robert Fox. Questions: rico@ricoremembers.com.

2. Information we collect

From the buyer: name, email, and payment confirmation (card details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see or store your full card number).
About the recipient: the name and mobile number of the person who will receive reminders, and the important dates (and optional preferences) you enter.
Consent records: if a reminder recipient is not the buyer, we record the recipient's opt-in confirmation and its timestamp.
Usage data: basic, privacy-respecting analytics (page visits) to understand what's working. We do not put personal data in URLs.

3. How we use it

To send the reminder texts you asked us to send, at the lead times you chose.
To process your payment and manage your subscription.
To email you about your account (including a year-end recap) — used sparingly.
To improve the service.

4. Text messages & consent (important)

We only send texts to a phone number once the person who owns it has consented to receive them:

If you sign yourself up, you consent at checkout.
If you set Rico up for someone else, that person receives a single confirmation message and must opt in themselves before any reminders are sent. If they decline or don't respond, reminders are sent to you (the buyer) instead — nobody receives surprise texts.
Message frequency varies (typically a handful per year). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel texts at any time, or HELP for help.
We log consent (and STOP requests) to comply with applicable rules (e.g., TCPA and carrier A2P requirements in the US).

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run Rico, under contract, including:

Stripe — payment processing.
SMS provider (e.g., Twilio) — to deliver text messages.
Hosting and analytics providers.

We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Data retention

We keep your information while your subscription is active and as needed to comply with our legal obligations (consent and billing records). You can ask us to delete your data — see below.

7. Your choices

Texts: reply STOP to opt out at any time.
Email: use the unsubscribe link.
Access / deletion: email rico@ricoremembers.com and we'll honor applicable requests (including under laws like the CCPA/CPRA and GDPR where they apply).

8. Children

Rico is not directed to anyone under 18 and we don't knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes

We'll post any updates here and revise the date above.
